Position Title: Test Manager (Defence ICT Projects)
Location: Anzac Park West Constitution Avenue (Preferred), Other Defence Sites (Commonwealth Premises) and Remote.
Employment Type: [Full-Time/Contract]
Security Clearance: Minimum NV1 security clearance
Experience: 10 years experience in test management, with at least the last 3 years working on defence ICT projects. Proficiency in testing frameworks and tools is highly regarded.
Salary: 181,000 – 242,000


About the Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Test Manager to lead the testing activities for Defence ICT projects. This critical role focuses on ensuring the successful validation and verification of systems and solutions, meeting the stringent requirements of Defence environments. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in managing test strategies, plans, and execution for large-scale ICT deployments.

This position involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to identify testing needs, ensure compliance with standards, and deliver high-quality outcomes for end-users and stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy and Planning:
    • Develop comprehensive test strategies and plans tailored to project requirements.
    • Define test objectives, scope, and success criteria in alignment with project goals.
  • Test Execution and Management:
    • Lead the execution of functional, performance, integration, and security testing activities.
    • Coordinate with testing teams to ensure timely and accurate delivery of test results.
  • Defect Management:
    • Establish processes for defect identification, tracking, and resolution.
    • Collaborate with development teams to address and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Work closely with project managers, developers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on testing requirements.
    • Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and issues to senior management.
  • Automation and Tools:
    • Implement and manage test automation frameworks to improve efficiency.
    • Utilise modern testing tools and technologies to enhance test coverage and accuracy.
  • Compliance and Standards:
    • Ensure all testing activities adhere to Defence policies, standards, and security frameworks.
    • Maintain documentation to support audit and compliance requirements.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in test management, including planning, execution, and reporting.
  • Strong understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks (e.g., Agile, Waterfall).
  • Proficiency with testing tools such as Selenium, JIRA, HP ALM, or equivalent.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Experience in testing within Defence ICT environments and ensuring compliance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

Essential Requirements

  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory).
  • Minimum NV1 Security Clearance (mandatory).
  • 10 years of relevant experience in test management roles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
