Position Title: Test Engineer (Defence ICT Projects)
Location: Anzac Park West Constitution Avenue (Preferred), Other Defence Sites (Commonwealth Premises) and Remote.
Employment Type: [Full-Time/Contract]
Security Clearance: Minimum NV1 security clearance
Experience: 10 years experience in testing roles, with at least the last 3 years working on defence ICT projects. Proficiency in testing frameworks and tools is highly regarded.
Salary: 161,000-187,300
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Test Engineer to join our dynamic team within the defence sector. This critical role will involve executing rigorous testing activities to ensure the quality, reliability, and security of ICT systems and solutions in high-compliance environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software and systems testing, along with experience in Defence ICT projects.
This position also involves contributing to the testing strategy and supporting the transition impact of new technologies on workforce operations and sustainment plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Execution:
- Conduct functional, performance, integration, and security testing of ICT systems.
- Ensure all test cases are executed accurately and efficiently.
- Defect Identification and Reporting:
- Identify, log, and track defects using appropriate tools.
- Collaborate with development teams to resolve issues promptly.
- Test Automation:
- Implement and manage test automation frameworks to enhance testing efficiency.
- Develop automated test scripts for regression and performance testing.
- Test Planning and Documentation:
- Assist in creating detailed test plans, cases, and scripts based on project requirements.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of test results and observations.
- Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure all testing activities adhere to Defence policies, standards, and security frameworks.
- Support audit and compliance requirements through thorough documentation.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with test managers, developers, and other stakeholders to align on testing objectives.
- Provide regular updates on testing progress, risks, and issues to the project team.
Key Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in software and systems testing, including manual and automated testing.
- Strong knowledge of testing methodologies and tools (e.g., Selenium, JIRA, HP ALM, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall testing practices.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with testing in Defence ICT environments and ensuring compliance.
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
Essential Requirements
- Australian Citizenship (mandatory).
- Minimum NV1 Security Clearance (mandatory).
- 10 years of relevant experience in testing roles.
