Position Title: HR Specialist (Defence ICT Projects)
Location: Melbourne, Canberra, and Remote.
Employment Type: [Full-Time/Contract]
Security Clearance: Minimum NV1 security clearance
Experience: 5 years experience in HR roles, with at least the last 3 years working on defence-related ICT projects. Proficiency in workforce planning and talent management for high-compliance environments is highly regarded.
Salary: Negotiable 110,000-220,000 circa
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated HR Specialist to join our dynamic team within the defence sector. This role focuses on supporting ICT project delivery through effective human resource strategies, ensuring alignment with Defence policies and standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in workforce planning, recruitment, and employee engagement within high-compliance environments.
This position will play a critical role in workforce transition planning, ensuring smooth integration of new technologies, and supporting the organisational change management efforts required for Defence ICT projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Workforce Planning:
- Develop and implement workforce plans to meet project requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers to align human resources with strategic goals.
- Recruitment and Talent Acquisition:
- Lead recruitment efforts for ICT roles, ensuring candidates meet technical and security clearance requirements.
- Build talent pipelines to address future project needs.
- Employee Engagement:
- Foster a positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives and regular communication.
- Conduct surveys and feedback sessions to assess employee satisfaction and address concerns.
- Change Management Support:
- Support organisational change efforts by developing communication plans and training programs.
- Ensure employees are informed and prepared for transitions associated with ICT projects.
- Compliance and Policy Implementation:
- Ensure all HR activities comply with Defence policies, standards, and legal requirements.
- Develop and maintain documentation for HR processes and compliance audits.
- Performance Management:
- Implement performance management systems to support individual and team growth.
- Provide coaching and guidance to managers and employees.
- Training and Development:
- Identify training needs and develop programs to upskill the workforce.
- Support career development initiatives within the organisation.
Key Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Extensive experience in HR roles, including workforce planning, recruitment, and employee engagement.
- Strong understanding of Defence policies, standards, and security requirements.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage change in high-compliance environments.
- Familiarity with ICT environments and technical roles is an advantage.
- Proficiency in HR management tools and software.
Essential Requirements
- Australian Citizenship (mandatory).
- Baseline, NV1 Security Clearance (highly desirable)
- 5 years of relevant experience in HR roles.
- Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams.
